Bespoke Log Cabin Design:
Recently, a client with a specific bespoke requirement approached us to design a games room log cabin for their garden. The project was in Oldham, where the client's house was set high up with a steep drop to the rear of the garden. Our experts worked closely with the client to design a log cabin of 7m x 3m, 68mm wall logs and 28mm Flooring, with an internal partition to separate the gym and bar areas, and plenty of glass to let in natural light.
Engineering the Base Works
Our client had a specific bespoke requirement to maximise the garden space. However, the challenge was that the house was set high up in Oldham, and the garden had a dramatic drop to the rear. Therefore, we needed to design a log cabin that respected the unique features of the site and catered for our client's needs. After careful consideration, we agreed on a design of 7m x 3m with an internal partition to separate the gym and bar areas. We used plenty of glass to let in natural light, which gave the cabin a bright, airy feel.
To ensure the structural stability of the log cabin, we enlisted the services of our trusted colleagues at Ground Screws 4U, the trusted experts in engineered base works. Their team used 2.4m giant screws to the rear of the log cabin, which helped us achieve the perfect platform to build from. They then used 6”x 2” treated framework with an OSB top board and membrane, giving the structure further strength and durability.
Water Tight Roofing System and Insulation:
Our team installed an EPDM rubber roofing system on the cabin to give it a water-tight finish. The structure's floor and roof were insulated with 50mm insulation for energy efficiency and to keep the cabin warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Finishing Touches:
At Timber Building Specialists, we believe that it's the finishing touches that make all the difference. The logs were painted in Sadolin light Oak internally and externally, providing a warm and natural feel. On the door and window frames, we used a contrasting Anthracite paint to give the cabin a modern touch. We handcrafted a custom bar, matching the paintwork, and fitted commercial grade laminate flooring. The galvanized conduit provided an industrial feel to the overall project. Not to mention, the actual working beer pumps added a celebratory finishing touch.
